Hey Bargain Hunters,
There's been some buzz about the free ice cream event that is taking place at Walmart on Saturday, May 30th, 2009. For details, visit http://instoresnow.walmart.com/food-center-ice-cream.aspx . They'll be distributing ice cream (1 per customer) between 11am-4pm, but on a first come, first served basis. It seems like a nice summertime treat.
Yum!

Off-season deals at Urban Outfitters
Hey there Bargain Shoppers,
Even though it's 80 degrees outside, it's never too early to think about your winter wardrobe. If you head down Kirkwood, you'll see that Urban Outfitters is having a sidewalk sale until May 31st. The $5 sign should lure you in. If you search the racks, you'll find plenty of sweaters, jackets, dresses, and tops on sale for $5. You might be concerned about investing in pieces that may be out of style come winter, but the selection at Urban Outfitters were all basics that could be easily mixed and matched with your existing wardrobe or the pieces that you have yet to buy. There are a lot of XS and L sized items, but you should come out with something even if you're a S or M. If you are looking for pieces that you can wear sooner, there were also dresses on sale for $29.99 and less.
Inside the store, you'll find a larger selection of items on sale. Books start at $4.90 and tops start at $19.99. There were also some home items (e.g., plates, bookends) and accessories (e.g., wallets, scarves, hats) on sale for around $9.99 and up.
I snatched up a navy military jacket (originally priced at $54.00) and a green knit sweater (originally priced at $58.00) for $5 each. Despite the fact that I have at least 6 months to wait to wear my new purchases, I look forward to the moment when I can show off my $5 duds.
Have you noticed any good sales around town? Feel free to share them here.
Happy shopping!

Arby Wednesdays
Hey Deal hunters!
It's only been a few hours, but I've already come across my first new deal. Arby's has been advertising special summer deals on Wednesdays and with a little websearching, I've found that every Wednesday from now till mid-August, Arby's will be offering something free with a specific purchase. Below are the listed dates and specials:
May 27 Free Regular Roast Beef sandwich with any soft drink purchase
June 3 Free Fruit Tea with any sandwich purchase
June 10 Free Roast Chicken Club with any soft drink purchase
June 17 Free Regular Sidekicker with any sandwich purchase
June 24 Free Regular Roast Beef sandwich with any soft drink purchase
July 1 Free Regular Beef 'n Cheddar sandwich with any soft drink purchase
July 8 Free Orange Cream Swirl shake with any sandwich purchase
July 15 Free Regular Roast Beef sandwich with any soft drink purchase
July 22 Free Roastburger with any soft drink purchase
July 29 Free Fruit Tea with any sandwich purchase
August 5 Free Regular Roast Beef sandwich with any soft drink purchase
August 12 Free Roast Chicken Club with any soft drink purchase
August 19 Free Fruit Tea with any sandwich purchase
August 26 Free Regular Beef 'n Cheddar sandwich with any soft drink purchase
There's no need to print a coupon. All you have to do is mention the Wednesday deal at participating Arbys restaurants. Since I saw it advertised on a local Bloomington channel, I assume that the Bloomington Arbys are all participating locations, but I'm not sure. You can always call ahead to double check. Visit www.arbys.com to find a location near you. Unfortunately, this website doesn't give any information about this special.
So what do you think of this deal? Is it something that you'd check out in the future? Would you like to see more deals like this? Let me know what you think. In the meantime, I'll keep on the lookout for more deals and specials around town.

Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I assume you clicked here because, a) you're interested in saving money, b) you like free stuff, c) you're my friend in real life, or d) all of the above. Whatever the reason, I'm glad you're here. As mentioned in the description, this blog is a way for me to share information about deals that I come across and free offers that I notice around town. The specials may be limited to shops in and around Bloomington, Indiana, but you may also find some of the same deals at national retailers and restaurants.
What makes me qualified? I'm not sure. I've been a bargain shopper for as long as I can remember and I seem to be able to detect "sale" or "free" within a 50-mile radius. I have in no way reached the mega-saver status like Coupon Mom and Clark Howard, but I have my own tips and knowledge that work for me, so maybe they'll also work for you too. I probably won't save you hundreds of dollars a month, but hopefully I can help you get more for less, sometimes free.
Since this is a relatively new project, let me know what you think. Is there a certain item that you're looking for and you're not sure how to get the best deal? Do you have a major caffeine habit that's having a serious effect on your wallet? I'll do my best to give tips and advice on any purchase inquiries. If you come across a special that's too good to pass up, let me know about that too.
In the meantime, happy spending and saving!
